Sourashtrians came to Tamil Nadu from Saurashtra. Tamil Nadu Sourashta people preserved their mother-tongue. But sourashtra language had not written form. Now on 2009, with the help of Central Government of India, Central Institute of Indian language, Mysore, Sourashtri language adopted Devanagari script with necessary modifications.

All India Sourashtra Madhya Saba Secretary., Mr . M.S. Ramalingam, Tanjure, speaks at Minority language of India's Sourashtra lipi proclamation function.
Sourashtra language's akshar / script / lipi / alphabets proclaimed Devanagari script is its alphabets.
In his speech at Sourashtra Lipi Proclamation function, at Palayankottai on 8th Aug. 2009 he stated that " Salutation to all. When we got Independance, Central Minister, Sardar VallabhBhai patel, first and foremorely taken the project, Somnath Temple of Saurashtra re-construction as the Celebration of Independance of India. We migrated from Saurashtra at the time of Gazni Mohammed's attack, and settled in Tamil Nadu . As Sugar and Milk mingled as Drink, we Sourashtriansl are mingled in Tamil Nadu.
We requested to the Government, for writing-system for our mother tongue sourashtra. Though we have ancient lipi, but we does not aware of that.
Government suggested as per our language's tradition, nature ' Devanagari alphabets ' are most suitable for us. And finally we adopted Devanagari Script today..... "
